Game

I don't think there is an explanation, but I am always wondering why in some cases only the male antilopes have horns and in some cases the females have horns too.

The giraffe on top is a female, while the one at the bottom is a male. To see the difference, look at the horns. A female has thinner horns and the horns have more hair at the tips. A male has thicker horns and the tips have less hair with a "bald" bony part.

Springbuck, Etosha National Park, Namibia. Both sexes have horns.
The springbuck and the Gazelle look almost alike, but the biggest difference between the two species can be seen in their faces. Compare the two photos above and below.

Gazelle mother, just after giving birth, Ngorogoro, Tanzania. This baby was trying to suck for the first time, at the wrong place! It was still wet and it was very shortly after it was born that I took this photo.
